V. D Indian Society for Mentally Retarded (Challenged); established in 1973 is a charitable institution; rendering multidisciplinary services to Mentally Challenged in the field of early detection, assessment, training, medical research, counseling, recreation and prevention programmes. There It also arranges open Employment to these challenged children, provides sheltered workshops and special education to children with Learning disabilities. At present More than 500 Mentally Challenged children are taking advantage of these services at this institute. We have highly qualified and specialized staff that work dedicatedly for the institution.
In these 37 years, successful attempt has been made to improve the quality of mentally challenged individuals. The society runs a school for these children at Malad west in its own premises of about 15,000 sq feet. It caters to all sections of the society. The activities are financed by government grants, fees from students and donations at personal and corporate level. The donations to the society are eligible for deductions under 80G IT act.
